We write this letter with grateful hearts for your unwavering support of the Worcester County Food Bank and our mission this past year.
We have always believed that food is a fundamental right of all people and that hunger is an issue of social justice. This past year, through your food and financial donations, volunteer service, and collaborations, the Worcester County Food Bank and our network of 138 partner agencies were able to provide food to over 100,000 of our neighbors who are struggling to make ends meet. That food provided them with more than 4.5 million meals.
But our impact in 2014 stretched beyond food distribution to engage a variety of other people and organizations in our mission.
Through Worcester County Food Bank’s Fund to End Hunger at the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, we provided the third year of grant funding to a host of programs across Worcester County that are reaching to get at one or more of the root causes of hunger in our community.
We launched a website and social media platforms that allow us to engage a broader audience of people throughout the community in a different medium.
In collaboration with partners like the Worcester Food & Active Living Policy Council, we continued to advocate for programs and legislation at all levels – local, state and federal – that support people in being more food secure and healthy.
Our partnership with the Worcester Public Schools, aimed at serving meals to children during the summer months when school meals aren’t available, completed its second year with a distribution of more than 13,000 meals, triple the first year’s distribution.
Our annual report reflects a strong and successful organization that is making a difference where it matters most, in the lives of people on a daily basis. Because of your loyal support, we are poised to continue to provide food to those who need it, while taking a bigger aim at ending hunger in our neighborhoods. Thank you!
