Today, May 8, is a National Day of Action to protect and defend federal nutrition benefits including SNAP. Please take action via phone and social media (phone is most important if you have to choose one)!

We’re asking you to make TWO calls NOW.

1) Call your Massachusetts Member of Congress – as a constituent – and thank him or her for being a champion against SNAP cuts. Urge your member to “Vote NO on H.R. 2!” Please make use of Feeding America’s toll free number: 1-888-398-8702. You will be connected to your rep’s office by simply putting in your zip code. It is imperative that we let each Member of Congress know that we need them to “Vote NO on H.R. 2!”

2) Call a member of your family, friend or colleague who lives in another state and urge that person to also make a call. Again, use the Feeding America Toll Free line.

Massachusetts’ Congressional Delegation will vote down the GOP Farm Bill proposal – BUT it still is important that they hear from you. You do not need to master the many details of the proposed legislation to make a call. Your member may appreciate knowing why the SNAP benefits are so critical to you, a family member or the constituents you serve in Massachusetts. It helps them defend the program when they have received hundreds of calls to their offices.
